Description

Puppy and Kitten consults involve a vaccination and physical examination, but we all know that is only the tip of the iceberg! What about discussing nutrition, parasite prevention, puppy pre-school, crate training and answering all the additional questions... it all falls on the veterinarian. What else could they be doing instead? Or, what happens if they run out of time to discuss this valuable information...? Veterinary Nurse + Veterinarian = Team-Based Care.
When we divide consultation tasks appropriately between team members, we create more job satisfaction for veterinary nurses by leveraging their skills and knowledge, create workflow efficiencies and last but not least, improve patient care outcomes.
There are multiple approaches for implementing team-based care, it is not a 'one size fits all' solution. Consequently, we will discuss a few specific approaches for your team to try out.
